Constructed of wetsuit grade neoprene with a soft Lycra/Poly interior, the jacket is lightweight and water friendly. As comfortable to wear as a bathing suit, the neoprene construction and unique design eliminates the need for a strap between the child's legs--the jacket will not ride up on the child.
This item is NOT a life jacket and should not be used as one.
Designed specifically to aid swimming instruction, the Original Konfidence Jacket helps take the fear out of swimming by providing buoyancy in the water. A great alternative to minimally effective water wings and tubes, the Konfidence Jacket promotes correct swimming position and helps children achieve a face forward position in the water as they learn to paddle and kick. The eight removable floats provide maximum buoyancy and can be removed gradually as the child becomes more confident in the water.

Wonderful Product! Apr 05, 2007

I bought this jacket for my grandson and think it is wonderful. It is soft and comfortable so he can wear it for hours. Also, it fits properly and does not ride up around his head like other jackets. I feel it is a great aid for a child to feel secure in the water as well as learn to swim. I highly recommend it.

Great for learning May 18, 2008

I love this product, we have been using this for over a month. It took some getting used to first couple times in the pool. The buoyancy is just where the chin is barely above the water.(Same as where the water naturally hits me while I am swimming.) If water is splashed my child often gets a face full of water, but this has taught him to close his mouth and hold his breath. Every time we go swimming I see improvements with my son's swimming recently he started leaning forward and propelling himself by kicking his feet behind him. Before he was just doggy paddling. I have yet to remove any of the inserts and decrease the buoyancy, so I can't comment regarding. But using the vest with all the inserts has been great for us.

Very happy with the product Aug 30, 2008

My daughter has never been to any kind of swim class and we never even trained her to swim in the bathtub, but with this vest (she is 2 yo now) she feels extremely confident in water! She ventures into the deep and she can swim up to 40-60 feet into the sea and back. I thought I would be confined to stay on the shore with her all the time, but I can actually smim as I normally would independently, with her paddling along! (Granted I am not an Olympic swimmer, but I much prefer being able to swim than bulding sand castles). The vest is holding her afloat, and even when a wave splashes onto her face, she just shakes the water off, smiles and keeps on paddling. You should see the faces of other parents on the beach whose 7 year olds are afraid to walk into the sea farther than knee deep, when they see a chubby toddler, all dressed in pink, fearlessly entering the water and swimming towards her father waving to her 40 feet away. Everybody wants to know where I got the vest! And how she is enjoying it too! She invents her own little tricks, like spinning around or an "armchair" (floating in the "sitting" position with the tips of her toes sticking out of the water in front of her). I tought myself to spin in the water when I was, like, 12!
I can see she feels very secure in the vest, because she refuses to hold onto my fingers even when I offer!

Taught my kids to swim Feb 19, 2007
By J. Delgado This is the best swim jacket on the market. We tried several and this was by far the best. The removable floats allowed us to alter the kids buoyancy in the water as they gained confidence.
I would recommend this to anyone with kids learning to swim!
My kids loved the bright colors as well!

One huge problem with the Jacket May 26, 2009

First, the Jacket works great - we used it with our son in Hawaii and it was a hit. HOWEVER, what none of the marketing materials show, here or on the website, is that the back of the jacket has in huge letters: "THE ORIGINAL KONFIDENCE JACKET."
What is that all about? You can't find a picture of the back of the jacket! We were stunned when we opened it up and saw the advertising (what it really is) and realized we were going to put that on our Son's back.
Huge downer. Other than that it worked great, but they still get one star from me.
**UPDATE**
A number of people have responded to this review and noted that it is possible to find a picture of the back of the Jacket. [...]. I've also noted that so far 16/22 people found the review helpful which is more than any other review (though 9 of 22 did not...also more than any other review).
I just want to note that I respect the views of people who don't like my review and think it is too extreme, but I see that by giving the jacket one star I'm alerting a significant number of people who may feel as I do that the jacket design significantly detracts from its value. The purpose of my review is to help other consumers make a good decisions, and not to denigrate the product. In that aim I'm going to respectfully leave the one star review.
