Great Backyard Addition Jul 17, 2011
By D. E. McFadden This is our fourth summer we have set up this pool. It takes a couple of hours by the time I retrieve the parts from the attic, lay out the ground cover, and assemble it. It is of fairly high quality and is durable. I did find one challenge with the corners of the metal frame, but was able to resolve it. The problem is that they sometimes slip apart a couple of inches. Not enough to separate fully, but enough to worry me a bit. I solved it by drilling holes and installing some sheet metal screws at the corners. Besides this, the pool is nice and deep and the kids (now aged 7 and 10) stay in it for hours on hot days. They haven't slammed against or sat upon the sides much; if they did it seems it would stress some of the seams or bend the frame. That said, the frame is quite sturdy, enough for a small person to briefly sit on it. We get over 100° on some summer days so a shallow pool doesn't quite cut it. I just leave the pump plugged in all the time and rinse out the filter about once a week or more often if there's been heavy usage. I have set it up in early June and taken it down in September. I can fold it up and store it wrapped it in a tarp outside for the winter, and by seeding new grass right away I avoid a winter "mudpit" where it pool was. Also, please note that the shipping charge is reasonable considering that the items does weigh about 100 lb.
