Fantastic vest for our 2-year-old Feb 16, 2010
By Jacob Fisher We absolutely love this vest. We purchased it in advance of a vacation where we knew there would be a pool. Our two-year-old had some water experience due to a few months of weekly parent-child "water familiarity" classes (30 minutes per week with a parent in the pool with him). He could not swim, but could kick around with a foam noodle under his arms and was comfortable getting his face wet. We read the reviews and Speedo's own description that this is not a life jacket, but a flotation device for children at a "B Swim Level" [...]. With that expectation, we bought the vest, and it was fantastic. Within five minutes, our two-year-old was swimming all around the pool with his vest on. Soon he was climbing out jumping back in. He would completely submerge, but with the vest would buoy right up to the surface, paddling merrily around the pool. We remained in the pool with him, but he was happily swimming on his own.

If you want to relax with your little one in the water - this is the vest for you... so comfortable... he asks to have it on and gives him and parents a high sense of security - you still have to keep an eye on them... but from a little farther away!
Great to build confidence in your toddler May 19, 2010
By Christian Lenoir I bought this for my 16 month old toddler, hoping it would help him build confidence in swimming (while giving me some peace of mid as well). The buoyancy is not superb, so just as a note: if you're looking for a life jacket, this is probably not it. However, it does provide some buoyancy and that is what it is all about: it is intended to help little ones who are in the early swimming stage. My boy does not swim yet, so I would not leave him unattended with this alone, but I definitely use it as backup when bathing in rivers at State Parks, or in the pool. The vest is not that bulky and provides plenty of freedom for arm movement, so unlike other bulkier vests, kids don't feel fully uncomfortable in it. The bottom strap prevents the vest from floating up (and my kid sinking down!) when in water and even when I believe this vest is intended for ages of, say, 3 and up, my 16-month-old boy uses it and it fits him well. I would purchase this item again.

By Marcelo Ribeiral This product does not give enough flotation to be used as a life jacket for boating. Do not buy if that is what you need. If you need more flotation I recommend The Stearns Puddle Jumper Stearns Puddle Jumpers
