The spa bromine dispenser has slots instead of mesh, which is the best. Because it never films or clogs, it is always releasing the bromine and is easily calibrated to your spa delivery needs. My previous mesh one eventually became clogged, and we had several incidents of unsightly cloudy water. Never with this (years of use).
