Helps to keep ducks away Aug 04, 2008
By Larry the Coder We returned from vacation one year to find that some ducks had made our pool the duck-party central of Menlo Park, CA. Yuk.
This dispenser helped in subsequent years to keep the ducks away. Thank goodness ducks are dumb enough to be scared of it.
I'm buying a second one after 3 years... the chlorine and sun took their toll on the old one.
We have to tell kids that it isn't a toy, since it looks like one, but it can be fun to play as though it is a scary real aligator, especially if the child has a good imagination.
Replacement cannister May 25, 2012
By peter_e Great dispenser given to me as a gift. After about two years the cannister got brittle and broke. Could not find replacement cannister. Looked around house and found a Peanut Butter jar has same throat size as the cannister. Cleaned jar then drilled some holes (approximately same number, location and size as in original cannister). Screwed new jar back into alligator head and put it back in pool. It works great.
Quality Issue May 14, 2012
By Paul The tablet canister that screws onto the bottom of the alligators head does not thread properly. The threads on the bottom of the alligators head are injection molded with the head so the tablet canister slips over half of the threads and then bites onto the last thread or two. It was inexpensive and is working for now so I don't plan to spend the time to return it. Otherwise the product works fine.
