Chlorine and this pool May 23, 2006
By MOLLY In response to KITARA - 8/2003
You cannot use the Derby Duck/chlorine tablets with this pool.
I checked with a major pool supplier in my area and he said that this is TOO STRONG and would not work because without a pump it would not circulate the chlorine. The pool is 120x72x & about 2 ft deep = 1000 gallons. He recommended a small container of "Stablizer Chlorine Powder" and after the first days use, sprinkle 1/4 cup or less & let stay overnite.
However, the water must be replaced once a week.
Do not mess with chemicals unless you are a proffesional.
I also reccomend buying 2 pool covers - one for the bottom to prevent puncture. The good small electric pump will fill it fast.
If you loose one of the 3 chamber caps - a plastic jar cap will suffice.
When storing for the winter - pack carefully.
It lasts about 2-4 yrs and is good enough for 4-6 adults.

Well worth the money Aug 06, 2003
By Kitara My three year old can NOT stay out of this pool. All the neighborhood kids think my son has the best parents. Last summer we wasted a lot of time and money refilling and emptying this gigantic pool, but this year we have the cover and Derby Duck floating chlorinator and the water stays sparkling clean (aside from the grass from getting in and out of the pool.)I don't know if we have holes that some reviews spoke of or what, but we do have to put air in the top tier every other day. I would still buy this pool again knowing that I might have this trouble. I also recommend an electric pump because this pool takes forEVER to do by hand, although it is possible. Last, but not least, I recommend the ground cover as well. The ground cover is made of strong vinal and will keep rocks from tearing the bottom of the pool.

Fun in the Sun! Jul 01, 2005
By K. Alphs We have owned two versions of this particular pool made by Intex. The first had an inflatable bottom which was wonderful! The pool was durable, held up very well through two families. I sold this particular model, but wish I would have kept it as the inflabtable bottom is fantastic! The second model is the same size with the exclusion of the inflatable bottom. We have had this particular model for two years but have noticed that the bottom ring is deflating. We have checked for leaks only to find that the leak is in the valve stem itself. In response to the inquiries about a cover for this particular model, do what our neighbor has done: purchase a king size fitted matress cover and pop it over the top of the pool. Viola! No more bugs, grass, sand, dirt in your pool! This is a great pool for those hot summer days and having fun in the sun!

Finally ! A large pool Jun 18, 2002

My family of 3 can play and romp freely in this pool. You won't believe the actual size (measurements are fine to look at in print but once you get it blown up you will be pleasantly surprised!). The people who reported issues with inflating clearly did not read the box, which indicated they recommend a pump to fill. With the Intex electronic pump I was able to inflate in about 10 minutes. Just be sure to use the large pump tube into the large holes to get it 90% inflated, then switch to the smaller intake valves to fine to and complete inflation. Deflating is a snap too with the pump. Take down time was about 30 minutes which included washing the pool off well before deflating, and then folding/storage steps. This pool DOES require you to be aware of pool fence laws.

Fun, Fun, Fun Jul 29, 2008
By L. muhler This pool is great--we get a new one every-other year, but it's so affordable....
Listen, here's the scoop on cleaning this pool. I've done this 100's times over the years and it's super easy. Takes me 10 minutes, tops. Just open the three valves on the side to deflate and the water will fly out. Then reinflate with the reverse port on your vacuum cleaner--takes 20 seconds in each opening. Now you have an inflated, but dirty pool which is simple to rinse out. Then fill with water and put a dixie cup worth of bleach in the pool when you first fill it--doesn't bother skin, keeps fresher longer, and is much easier to clean when the time comes again.
