5Sturdy and Priced Right  May 03, 2009 By J. A. Geary "JayDownSouthInDixie"
I live in Florida where the sun's UV breaks down and rots anything plastic that remains outdoors 24/7. That particularly includes chlorine floats if you don't have a covered pool. You *might* get 2 years out of a float before the top crumbles and you have to toss it. I spent almost $15.00 (not including tax) on the same type of pool float from a chain pool supply company whose name (I won't say it) implies frugality - NOT! This float, even with shipping, is a steal. It's well made and durable, and large enough to hold 5 standard sized chlorine tabs. The top stays locked. The adjustable "vent" at the bottom to regulate "flow" against the tabs is easy to open and close and actually stays put where you set it. Given that I'll probably have to replace it in a year (2 if I'm lucky), this product is a winner. I'm going to buy a spare just to have on hand.

Addendum I - 4/6/2010 - Coming up on a year of 24/7/365 use on this guy and it's still in great shape. A small amount of sun/UV degradation (mainly color fading), but holding up well. Sometimes, I love being proven wrong ("I'll probably have to replace it in a year").

Addendum II - 10/27/2010 - After two long, blistering hot Florida summers (it was 90 here yesterday), the sun has finally bleached the plastic to the point the lid is beginning to crack. With a little strategic duct tape I'll keep this one going till the Spring before breaking out the spare. Can TRULY say I got my money's worth from this dispenser.

Addendum III (and now I'll shut up) - 2/28/2011. Freezing temperatures (yes, it gets really cold in Florida) this winter and blistering UV finally cracked the top on this floater (the body remained fully intact) to where it won't lock tightly. Spring has sprung here, and the pool is a toasty 72 degrees for swimming; so I ordered another one of these today [I procrastinated on buying a spare, it'd been holding up so well]. Again, I got my money's worth *and more* from my original purchase. Accordingly, it will be retired with full military honors (in this case, "Taps" on a kazoo). With the new one, I'm going to try an experiment - spray paint the top white to reflect more of the UV and heat and see if that extends the life. Check back in a few years.

4Good chlorine dispenser  Jan 18, 2010 By ship it fast
I purchased this dispenser for my pool. It works great. The quality of the unit is good. The lid is a little difficult to get on and off. Other than that, it is great.

5smart shopper  Sep 09, 2009 By smart shopper "s.s."
Very inexpensive compared to the ones sold at our local pool supply store and serves the purpose. Made of plastic, so living in Southern California, I will expect to replace them in a year or two.

5Floating Pool Dispenser  Sep 19, 2011 By bhop4
I must admit after receiving the package (which was very quick), I was skeptical due to the size of the box. I was concerned that the unit would be too small for the 3 inch tablets I use to introduce chlorination to my pool. To my surprise the unit holds the 3 inch tablets purfictly and the same number of tablets as my old unit. I am very pleased. The cost was considerably less then the cost of the old unit which I had purchased from a local pool supply store.

3Add 3 Pennies  Aug 20, 2011 By R. Schiffer
Along with only 1, 3" tablet I started adding 3 pennies. My pool used to have a horrible algee problem; especially after the seasonal rains began. My pool no longer gets ANY algee and I hardly ever need to brush it anymore. The pennies vanish over about a months time but they are very inexpensive to replace. I would have given more stars if they made this floater with a topside that held up better to the sun's UV. They only last a couple years here in South Florida.
